SRK Shares Love with BigB and Ranveer

For over a decade Shah Rukh Khan has admired by millions of fans across the globe but while at the Ra.One Cinthol press conference the star was full of admiration for his hero Amitabh Bachchan.

“Apart from Amitji’s good looks, voice, experience, personality and talent, the greatest virtue I find in him is the immense amount of knowledge he has,” said the 45-year-old during the event in Mumbai.

Since the comments were made it appears that the love has been reciprocated with Mr Bachchan signing up to do a special voice over for the science fiction film. Ra.One director confirmed that “when Khan approached Bachchan, the superstar immediately agreed to be a part of the superhero flick.” Sinha commented further on the relationship between the two saying “there is immense respect between SRK and Amitji.”

Shah Rukh has previously starred along side the legend on multiple occasions in such films as Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and has been no stranger to making public appearances with BigB on shows such as Koffee With Karan.

Commenting on the new talent in the industry SRK said, “I think in the film industry among the young boys I find Ranveer very confident. I have met him one or two times recently and he is full of confidence and energy,”

The press conference saw Ra.One and Cinthol team up to release a special edition deodorant which will see character G.One advertise the product on television. After the event SRK tweeted about his experience saying “had fun time today…hung in a cinthol can…met the ever gracious mr.B” Ra.One releases later this month and is predicted to be the hit of the year.

More about Prateik, the comedy and the story of My Friend Pinto!

On Friday, October 14th we will see the hot young actor Prateik take on a new avatar, that of a comedy hero, in the film My Friend Pinto. The film also stars Kalki Koechlin as Prateik’s love interest and is directed by newcomer Raaghav Dar. Describing My Friend Pinto, Dar said, “The film is a racy, mad comedy about a young musician who comes to Mumbai from Goa to visit a friend. He is a simple, innocent guy who gets lost in the city and has a one night adventure with people from different walks of life.”

Not only is it Prateik’s first stab at comedy, it is also the first comedy film for well-known filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is producing the film with UTV. So what drew SLB to the film? “It was a script that was filled with smiles, filled with unusual characters, created with an unusual perspective, which had humour in the strangest of circumstances. I just found the whole take fabulous and fascinating.”

Of course, SLB is known for more serious subjects and epic films, but the challenge to make something funny is what made him want to get involved, “My Friend Pinto is a totally different film from what I’ve done so far. And that’s the beauty of it. I love challenges.”

Both Bhansali and Dar wanted Prateik for the lead role, “A lot of people thought it was suicidal to cast a non-established actor in the title role, but I went ahead according to my gut feeling and said that Prateik was apt for the role. His face, his body language and the whole attitude is just what Pinto is all about,” explains Bhansali.

Dar says the character of Pinto is along the same lines of roles that Charlie Chaplain or Raj Kapoor might have done. “It is in the same tradition as the films these legends have done, but more contemporary. Prateik is also a natural actor like these veterans. The film will remind you of Raj Kapoor’s Jaagte Raho. The hero wants to help people out but instead puts them in trouble and causes problems for himself too. There are many comic situations throughout the movie.”

Prateik agrees and says it is a tribute to them, “All of us together can say that for all the comedians of the world, be it Mr. Bean, Roberto Benigni or Raj Kapoor, this film is like a tribute to their art and genius.”

He added, “I love and enjoy what I am doing. I like playing different characters. I want to do good work..something that audiences enjoy.”

With this being a first time comedy role for Prateik, Dar says it did take him a bit to come out of that shy shell he seems to have in real life, “Prateik is a friendly guy in real life but he takes time to open up. He worked hard on his body language and became somewhat extroverted,”

In the end Bhansali says Prateik made it look ‘effortless’. “Prateik is Pinto in so many ways. There is certain innocence about him, a magic that comes from the pedigree of being Smita Patil’s son. You cannot move your eyes away from her even today when you see her film. Prateik has the same power. There is a great watchability which will make Prateik a very important star. I really hope this performance will make him the star that I expect him to be. This film is innocent, light, unpretentious and spontaneous.”

My Friend Pinto hits theaters on October 14th.

Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge shoots with live audience!

During the shoot of the rock song, ‘Chhoo Le’, in Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, there was a requirement of over 2000 junior artistes to act as the crowd. But due to a last minute strike, some of the junior artistes decided to not be a part of it.

Things started to look really bad until someone from the crew played the track loudly on the system as part of the sound test. Suddenly, people from nearby areas started dropping in on the set and checking out the song. In fact, so many people walked in that there was no need for junior artistes anymore. We had a live audience rocking to the song that introduces Nishant as Rahul in the film.

Seriously, the music of the film, scored by Raghu Dixit is definitely something to definitely watch out for.

'Simpsons' Star Harry Shearer -- I'll Take a Pay Cut, But I Want ...

Harry Shearer -- who voices Smithers, Mr. Burns and several other major characters on "The Simpsons" -- says he is willing to take an even BIGGER pay cut than FOX wants him to ... but he has a demand of his own.

Shearer and the rest of the cast have been asked to take a 45% reduction in salary in order for the show to continue. Shearer says he's willing to cut his salary a whopping 70% -- but he wants a percentage of the show's profits ... something he says the cast has been denied for years.

Shearer says his reps approached FOX with the idea ... but were told there are "simply no circumstances under which the network would consider allowing me or any of the actors to share in the show’s success."

Ironically, Mr. Burns would probably have the same answer.

FOX has no comment.

Homeless 'Harry Potter' Dog -- Too Famous to Adopt

Berry -- the dog that played Padfoot in "Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban" -- will remain an orphan for the next few weeks -- because the people who run the rescue shelter where he lives have decided he's too famous to adopt.
 
10-year-old Berry's original owner (a stuntman) put the dog up for adoption because he was too busy to take care of it --  but a rep for the German Shepherd Dog Rescue in the UK tells TMZ, the charity won't let anyone adopt Berry until the publicity surrounding the HP movies has died down.

According to the rep, the rescue is worried someone will adopt Berry just for his star power --  not for his companionship.

In the meantime, the rep says, "We are busy home checking lots of new people ... and then will decide if one of them is good enough."
