With Salman Khan returning to co-host the Aapka Farmaan episode of Bigg Boss with Sanjay Dutt, it would be interesting to see, if his ‘good friend’ Mahek Chahal can get away with her new-found arrogance on the reality show.
Ever since her nomination this week, Salman’s girl has been unnecessarily fighting and arguing with most contestants in the House. This week, she dramatically attacked new Housemate Siddharth Bhardwaj over petty issues and patched up with him later.
“Whether it is her ego or insecurity, Mahek is surely being unreasonable and coming across as artificial; just like Pooja Bedi. She may be doing all this to save herself from the eviction. But she needn’t worry about that when she has Salman Khan’s influential hand over her,” says a source.
Some time ago, it came to be known that the Norway-based Mahek is special to Salman. It was revealed that the superstar not only recommended her name for his earlier films Wanted and Main Aur Mrs. Khanna, but also for Bigg Boss.
According to reports, when Mahek got a call from the makers of Bigg Boss, she had already packed her bags and readied herself for the show, assuming that no one could ever refuse Salman’s recommendation. She was right!
Now, whether Mahek is getting too big for her boots is not as important as the bigger question: Can the Salman connection save her from eviction? The other five Housemates nominated this week include Pooja Misrra, Raageshwari, Juhi Parmar, Amar Upadhyay and Shonali Nagrani, while Pooja Bedi, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, Shradha Sharma, Mandeep Bevli, Vida Samadzai and Shakti Kapoor are safe for the time being.

Jaya Bachchan held a baby shower for her pregnant daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Tuesday 18th October at their residence in Mumbai.
Stars such as Bipasha Basu, Saira Banu, Twinkle Khanna, Sonali Bendre, Urmila Matondkar, Manyata Dutt, Asha Parekh and Karan Johar attended the baby shower, which in true Bollywood style featured singing and dancing. Fashion wise the stars opted for Indian attire with many stars opting for white and gold outfits.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is expecting her first child in November, opted for an orange Indian outfit and had makeup artist Mickey Contractor on hand getting the star ready on the day. Guests reported that Aishwarya was glowing with a mother-to-be glow surrounding her.
Choreographer Saroj Khan, who also attended the event, told the media about the baby shower saying, “I have never seen so many celebrity women together. All the women went up to Aishwarya and blessed her. Jayaji received each guest personally and was very warm. Even her daughter, Shweta, gave personal attention to everyone. There were a lot of songs and celebration.”
Husband Abhishek Bachchan, who wore a white and gold embroided kurta, thanked fans for their good wishes to his wife on the special day tweeting, “Good morning everyone. Thank you so much for all the wishes for Aishwarya on her Godh Bharai’. Read out some of your messages to her.”
Amitabh Bachchan could not attend the event as he is currently shooting for his latest Hollywood movie in Australia, The Great Gatsby.

This is Shubhashish Mukherjee’s debut directorial feature film is selected for Centerpiece World Premiere at the pretigious South Asian International Film Festival 2011.
SAIFF, 2011 will be hosted in New York City from November 9th to November 15th, 2011. It will be at the Institute of Science and Technology Theatre, where they will feature the work of all the new South Asian Film Makers from all over the World.
This is definitely one of the proud moments for Indian cinema and definitely for the entire team of Shakal Pe Mat Ja. The movie is produced by Linc Entertainment, IPIX Movies, Saritaa Deepak Jalan and Hrishitaa Bhatt and distributed by Reliance Entertainment.
The movie attacks theatres all over India on the 4th of November, 2011.

Indian actors continue to expand into Hollywood (Anil Kapoor – Mission Impossible 4, Amitabh Bachchan – The Great Gatsby) and now Anupam Kher has just announced via Twitter that he has been signed to star in The Silver Linings Playbook, alongside Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper (The Hangover).
The film is due for release in 2013, is being directed by David O Russell, known for the hugely successful Oscar nominated film The Fighterand is based on a book by the same name, written by Matthew Quick.
The story follows a character named Pat Peoples (Cooper), an ex-high school history teacher, who as just been released from a mental institution and put into the care of his parents. He spends his days building himself up to re-unite with his estranged wife, by trying to become the man she wanted him to be. In the midst of this he develops a strange friendship with the equally mentally unstable Tiffany, who joins him in his journey.
Although Anupam Kher is yet to read the book, it already seems clear that he will play the role of Pat’s psychiatrist, whom he develops a friendship with, as the character in the book is from an Indian background.
It hasn’t been confirmed which character De Niro is set to play, but one can assume it’s the role of Pat’s father, in which case it may be disappointing for fans to hear that there is no interaction between Anupam’s character and De Niro in the book! But for the sake of fans, let’s hope the writers take some liberty with the script!
Anupam Kher has acted in a few notable British films (Bend it like Beckham, Bride and Prejudice), but this is slated to be his first major Hollywood film. Here’s wishing him all the best!
