Shah Rukh Khan gave his fans a lovely Christmas surprise when he made an appearance recently at a mall in Mumbai at special event for the launch of the first ever Bollywood movie board game. The game is for his upcoming release Don 2. Present with him was the Don 2 crew including the gorgeous Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
SRK’s previous movie saw quite a few digital games launches, but was it nice to see that the makers of Don 2 decided to go with the good old board game. Developed by Thinktank games, the game was made keeping the essence of the movie in mind. The stars not only launched the game but also showed the audience a glimpse of it by playing it personally. “I feel gaming is a good platform to tell stories of a film and about the characters through this medium. Today, gaming is a big platform. They make games according to the films. I hope more and more films make use of this growing platform,” said Shah Rukh.
Farhan, director of the film, said, “Don is all about the mind and using it to out-think others. It is also about strategy. So the game was an obvious extension to the film… a chance for players to think like him and beat the competition.”
The crew seemed to have enough masti as they enacted dialogues from the movie and danced on stage too! That’s not all. SRK even made Farhan sing the title for the crowd who definitely seemed to enjoy it. The icing on the cake – quite literally – was the board game shaped cake which the gathered cast cut to launch the game.
Don 2 is a sequel to the 2006 film, Don: ‘The Chase Begins Again’, and stars Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Om Puri, Boman Irani and Kunal Kapoor.
